AN ASTONISHING LANDSCAPE
NATURAL CHARM HERBÉS
Herbers is a town in the northeast of Valencia. Its municipal area offers an astonishing landscape, which includes the mountains of Tossa, La Roca Mola, El Botadó or La Costa del Ginebra, with spectacular views of the valley and the surroundings of the town. It has deep slopes in the terrain, ranging from 750 meters in the village to 1236 meters. The town lays on the foot of a hill, where we can enjoy the majestic palace of el Baró d’Herbers. From the 14th century, this is a restored building with all the rooms of a feudal castle with beautiful Gothic windows.
A walk through Herbers means enjoying its small medieval streets and traditional stone architecture. It means plunging into a land from another era that still retains some traditional crafts such as the distillation of aiguardent, a typical high-quality liquor.
The palace of el Baró d’Herbers: Manor house of the 14th century recently restored. Known as the castle of Herbers, it is a Gothic manor house with rectangular shape, with battlements and merlons at the top and pointed Gothic windows. There are still interior rooms.
The old market, now converted into an inn. Gothic arches with carved stone made in the 15th century.
Museum of El Botadó: Ethnological museum with elements of rural life and historical past of the town.
Church of Sant Bertomeu: From the 14th century, although its style is undetermined. Rectangular, with three naves and a high choir. Next to the church, we find the cemetery, old graves and the Calvary.
Nostra Senyora del Sargar hermitage: It is only 2 km away from the town, and keeps the image of the patron saint. It has a cloister, a fountain in the center, the church, the house of the eremite and a room for the brotherhood. Inside, paintings created by Cruella in the 19th century are the main attraction.
