And needless to say, that it is time to our festival par excellence, l’Aplec dels Ports.
APLEC DELS PORTS
The last weekend of July, it is time to enjoy the party of Els Ports par excellence, l’Aplec dels Ports. It is time to defend our land, to emphasise the culture of the region and enjoy the popular events and festivities. The cycle of this Aplec -the word in Valencian to say gathering- does not stop and, for nearly four decades, every year a different village organises the celebration.
HIGH TIME TO COOL OFF
The summer temperatures are high, around 30 degrees Celsius, which invite you to cool off in the swimming areas of rivers or pools of different villages.
DO YOU FANCY A TAPA?
The bars and restaurants of the region of Els Ports organise the gastronomic days “Anem de tapes” where you are invited to enjoy the local cuisine and products in small bites. The uniqueness of this event is its local scope and that restaurants offer delicious and impressive menus, made of small and tasty dishes.
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
The tourism boom also brings an increase of activities in the villages of Els Ports. These activities those of cultural nature,which highlight the history and tradition of the region of Els Ports. In addition, the music is also protagonist in most of theses activities, such as the Early Music Morella, el Festival de Música de Morella, the cycle Sons de l’Interior and Música 775 in Vilafranca or concerts of various musical associations.

The snow paints the beautiful landscapes of the area in white, causing different feelings. For most people, seeing the mountains and villages in white causes an infinite admiration. And the kids, they do enjoy playing with it.

Soups and stews of Els Ports are always present in every single home and restaurant throughout the year. But if there is a moment in which they become the main character is in winter, helping to warm up. In addition, Els Ports special Christmas meatballs, or pilotes de Nadal, are the perfect accompaniment to a delicious soup.
THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS
Christmas is a special time. In Els Ports, magic and excitementare shown with special illuminations, original activities and the uniqueness of our tradition, for instance in the arrival of the Three Wise Men the night of the 5th of January.
SANT ANTONI, THE MEDIEVAL FESTIVITY OF FIRE
The main event of the winter is the great attraction to visit the region of Els Ports. During January and February, the nearby villages celebrate Les Santantonades where the purifying fire is the main protagonist. Pastries and typical drinks, popular events and holidays, performances and much more. In short, the uniqueness of this event is essential to know the tradition of the area.
THE TRUFFLE, THE BLACK DIAMOND
The truffle is mystery, aroma and flavour. Born under the land of the region, it is known as the “black diamond” because of its high economic and gastronomic value. Between January and March, different restaurants organise gastronomic days, in which menus with this product are offered and cooking demonstrations are carried out.
