PALANQUES

A CHARMING VILLAGE

Located on the gradient of a hill to the impressive valley of river Bergantes, its Cingle cave paintings, which belong to the Neolithic and consist of more than 30 figures composed of several groups of hunters and wild animals, the church consecrated to the Assumption of the Virgin, the Town Hall of the 17th century, the Arab tower and La Font Vella from the 7th century, are only a few among all tourist attractions that Palanques includes. The most important sites to see the beauty of these lands are the Bergantes viewpoint, located in the upper part of the town, the butte of Palanques and the whole riverbank.

MONUMENTS
PALANQUES

Cave paintings of El Cingle: The naturalistic cave paintings of El Cingle belong to the Neolithic period. They have an antiquity of 5000 years. There are more than 30 figures composed of several groups of hunters and wild animals. The paintings are distributed in two different shelters called A and B, which are very close.
The Arab Tower: Of Arab origin, it was disassembled because of the construction of a bridge over the river Bergantes. Its door was moved to Morella and placed on a door of the Castle, the  Porta Ferrisa.
Church Square: Located in the highest part of the village in a very picturesque environment, it combines heritage, typical rural houses and vegetation. From the 18th century, in its right side we can appreciate the remains of the small Gothic façade.
